Coevolution was a self-organized project by our team of nine young design students. The goal was to develop and implement a socially critical installation for the anniversary celebration of the University of St. Gallen (HSG). The installation consists of organic and angular shapes made of mirror foil, whose arrangement tells the story of human alienation from nature and shows how we are losing touch with ourselves and our origins. Coevolution holds up a mirror to society: are we losing our capacity for self-reflection?
First, we planned the project together with students from the HSG and jointly developed a concept for the room installation. My part consisted of organizing the public relations work and creating the individual shapes from mirror foil. We used projections to create a visual spectacle, which was accompanied by music produced by our sound designer. The event ended with a DJ set. Six months later, the installation was shown again as part of Museum Night in Cologne.
